Nurse Uniforms – Better Than None

Uniforms serve both a profound and highly functional purpose in the field of nursing. They become an identifiable trademark of nurses in order to distinguish them from doctors, surgeons and other medical professionals. The distinction they create helps patients and hospital administrators to set them apart from other employees for easier distribution of tasks. In this manner, it would be more convenient and effortless to call for their attention and assistance when the need arises. Aside from this, the clothing also helps them accomplish their critical function in the equation of hospital responsibilities. Ultimately, nurse uniforms should have all the necessities of the job and should contribute to the efficient execution of their pertinent roles in caring for patients. Their uniforms are not based solely on the dictates of fashion but of utilitarianism. Nurses wear clothes that allow them to fulfill tasks even during times of emergencies and urgent needs of patients.

It is hard to imagine how medical professionals, especially nurses, can function without a uniform. Since their line of job entails them to carry out tasks instrumental to saving people’s lives, even the clothes they wear to work matter a lot in the field. For the sake of cleanliness, they cannot just go about doing their duties wearing typical clothes. The nature of their jobs makes them prone to getting their uniforms stained, so it is a given that they need working clothes, which they can readily clean and sanitize.

The skills and knowledge may be what truly make a nurse, but no one can deny that looking the part is also a necessary part of the job. Patients have associated a certain type of uniform to nurses. Without wearing one, even a head nurse who have been working in the medical industry for decades, will not gain the trust of a patient. Nurse uniforms can yield power, authority, competence, and even people’s trust to a nurse. Being able to wear authentic nurse uniforms is an honor to most in the medical industry because it is a sign of years of study, hard work, and service. Only a handful of people who have passed the academic rigors and licensure examinations can wear the uniform with pride and hospital’s permission.

Because of their importance, nurse uniforms have undergone a number of alterations for them to be able to look the part and achieve functionality required in this line of job. Nowadays, most hospitals have also considered neutral gender looking uniforms since there have been a rise of male nurses in the past years.

Some people might say that they are just mere clothes, but looking at it from the perspective of medical professionals, we will see that nurse uniforms indeed serve a very important purpose. They help the overall organization and structure of hospitals, no matter how small or big they may be, to execute functions and responsibilities smoothly. For nurses, wearing them is not a choice, but a requirement and an honor, as well. In conclusion, hospitals will be better medical institutions if they require nurse uniforms compared to not considering their necessity at all.

Questions and Answers

How to be a girly girl?Don’t tell me “Don’t change” or “Be yourself” I want serious answers. I’m not trying to be one of the stupid, popular girls; I want to be a real girly girl.
Semi-long answers please.

Posted by Samii_Styles
[display_name id=”1″]1.If you go to a school that wears uniforms but want to be girly you could wear lip-gloss or jewelry. Maybe even accessories if your school will allow. Pluck your eyebrows into a soft arch.2.Always take a shower every day. No one wants to get near a girl that smells bad. Make sure to scrub everywhere including your feet, as your heels can get very dry as well as the rest of your skin. Apply a face mask on your face in the shower.

3.Always brush your teeth 3 times a day, once at morning, evening, and night. At least brush them twice a day. Make sure to floss at least once a day.

4.Studies show that the two most attractive qualities of a person are their eyes and teeth.

5.Always brush or comb your hair to make it look beautiful. Be careful, too much brushing causes flat and dull hair. A few strokes to get out your tangles and style it will make your hair beautiful! You’ll look like your hair is flowing when you walk. Do not use electronic hair machines like blow dryers and curling irons to often or they will dull your hair. Let your hair air-dry. Straightened hair is very girly and cute. Hair accesories are hot. Long hair is ideal, and get highlights if you wish.

6.When you are in a public area and even at home make sure you use your manners. Try different hair-styles each day. Make sure you keep your hands clean or you could get sick. Express yourself and let out your true feelings. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Respect your parents or your guardian. Be kind.

7.Make sure your clothes are super cute. Pink is a typical girl color, but don’t shy away from blacks and blues, as they can also be worn very cute! You should wear clothes that fit you well (mini skirts, skinny jeans, sundresses, sharkbite tees, etc.) Good stores are Hollister, Torrid (if you’re plus- sized) Abercrombie, justice, and Forever 21, and for Make-up/Accessories Claires is good also Barry M, Charming CHARLIES, and Mac. Remember, you don’t have to be all name-brand! Don’t be ashamed to get cute things from Target or Salvation Army or get drugstore makeup.

8.Nail polish is a big thing. Nail polish can be extremely feminine and chic at the same time, and it comes in tons of different colors. Pink, sparkly colors, and red are good, girly colors. Light browns and brights also are very chic!

9.Overall, just bring out that girly part of you and don’t just hide yourself. Be confident, be a strong woman, be you. Don’t be afraid to get caught in the rain or eat a chocolate bar every once in a while, just try to be yourself and show off your potential and who you really are! And don’t forget to wear pink and another dark color with it.

10.Purses are also a big thing with girly girls. Big or small they can always carry your makeup, hair brush, and any other stuff you need to look amazing.

11.Makeup is a must. Wear a minimal, cute-looking amount. Eyeshadow is very girly, so wear a sparkly eyeshadow. Curl your eyelashes and apply mascara and lipgloss. Eyeliner is cute too.

12.Have the right role-models. Examples are Elle Woods from Legally Blonde and Carly Shay from iCarly. Both are very sweet and girly!

13.Smells. Smells and scents are VERY important! Use a pretty, girly scented body butter that looks cute as well as smells it. I suggest I Love. . .Strawberries and Milkshake. Or any I Love body butter is nice. To have whole I Love . . . Strawberries and Milkshake scent that will be gorgeous and girly, use the Strawberries and Milkshake scented lip-balm, the Strawberries and Milkshake shower smoothie and the Strawberries and Milkshake bubble bath. You’ll be glowing with girliness! Use a cute bath sponge and take care of yourself. Have very good hygiene.

Hope i helped!! 🙂

Where can I buy medical scrubs in Chicago/suburbs? I’m not looking to spend more than 30$ per pair.?

Posted by Anuja *
[display_name id=”1″]You can get must better pricing/selection online than in your local uniform store or at Wal-Mart. My favorite site is Tafford – their brand is the best quality for the money (you can easily get sets under $30) – they also have great clearance deals with prices as low as $4.99, and they always have free shipping deals. You can’t get Tafford in stores, so look at the size chart – they run a little large. Check them out:Http://www.tafford.com

If you like Cherokee Scrubs, then go to Http://www.bestofscrubs.com – they give free shipping on every order, and their selection is amazing. Plus, you can try them on in the store, and then order them online.

Good luck!

THOSE WHO WEAR MEDICAL SCRUBS!!!!?Hello, im currently going back to school soon to finish my MA course (LOA for pregnancy). I am looking to buy scrubs (about 5-6 sets)
Please tell me from your experience, what are the best medical scrubs out there with a good price tag on them.
I dont have much money but i am a strong believer of sometimes cheaper isn’t better and expensive isn’t always better. I like to purchase GOOD/EXCELLENT quality things once to last me at least a year or a few than to keep purchasing and end up spending more money than normal.
With the pregnancy i gained about 70+lbs =( so from normally wearing a small sometimes medium depending on the brand im now wearing a large/xtra large. Im also just 5′ 1″ in height so im not very tall.
Also, i found some cheap uniforms on amazon.com
but from what i’ve been reading they are good for the price but will not last more than 6 months. And they are made a little weird. The material is so thin that sometimes your underwear can shine through also i didn’t realize it is mostly made up of polyester. I HATE POLYESTER! But I LOVE COTTON. All my wardrobe is completely cotton or mostly made up of cotton.
So please help me decide whats the best bet for my money. Thank you.
Or if i do purchase the ones at amazon.com
how do you think i can keep their life running longer, maybe hang drying, pressing, etc…

[display_name id=”1″]I agree with the recommendation for Tafford. I get all my scrubs there, the material is thicker and has more Cotton than other scrubs so they last forever! I have scrubs that I have worn for several years and they still look good.Plus, if you sign up for their email list, they have great deals like free shipping and special sales, etc. Their scrubs arent the cheapest, but they are priced well and the quality and service is great.

I get compliments every time I wear my Tafford medical scrubs! Check them out, you won’t be disappointed:

Good luck!

How do you eliminate green algae from koi pond?

Is ultraviolet light treatment the way to remove green algae from a koi pond.

Posted by rolly
[display_name id=”1″]

If you section off a small part of the pond and put some live plants in it they will use up all the nutrients so the algae cant get as much. I have heard Indian fern works well for this but i dont know if it would survive in a pond

you could also scrub it off and let the filter filter it out.

If you have some spare cash you might want to invest in a UV filter

keep the pond nice and clean so there are not as many nutrients

But rolly,If it is the split pea soup looking algae invest in a UV bio filter and use Pondzyme Plus to keep your water crystal clear. Also if it is getting too much sun provide some shade by using shade cloth. You can also provide shade with waterlilies. Provide more aeration as well.
Scroll down to see sizes and prices on the UV/bio filter
PondCare Pond-Zyme Plus with Barley
* All-natural bacterial water conditioner cleans and clarifies pond water
* Breaks down sludge and other organic waste material that pollute pond water
* Prevents organic buildup that clogs pumps and filters to simplify pond maintenance
Shade cloth creates a cool, shaded environment for plants or animals
During the very hottest part of summer I use the shade cloth Koi like cooler water and more oxygen.
Laguna Aerators/ I use this one and run it 24/7 for the past 2 years and you can buy repair kits.
Having a koi pond is not a cheap hobby but is so worth it.
Good Luck!

Koi pond help, water won't clear up?

I've had a koi pond going for 5 years now. It is about 1400 gallons so not too big, not too small. I have a 1200 gph pump going to a bio filter.

The problem is the water will not clear up at all. We've been using the beneficial bacteria for a few weeks now to no avail. Also, I have a 300 gallon stock tank, so we drained 300 gallons of the pond water into the stock tank, removed all the fish, drained the rest of the pond water, scrubbed the pond liner and removed all the nasty water that created.

We then refilled the pond by adding in the 300 gallons that was previously in there and using new water to top it off. (This was 1 month ago)

Still the pond will not clear up.

What should I do? As I said this is 5 years now that the ponds been going and the water has always been crystal clear within a couple weeks of spring, but not this year.
Thank you, I actually have a UV filter. We just hadn't hooked it up because it says to wait a couple weeks when using the bacteria treatment.

I appreciate your help!

An ultraviolet filter is what you need, they are about £80. Alternatively you could try barley straw stuffed into an old pair of tights and leave that floating around for a while that sucks up the green too. (lots cheaper).
Good luck say hi to the fish for me 😉

Old air pump. Safe to use?

I had a little air pump I used for a small tank but after my betta died I set it out in the garage.

Meanwhile my dad used this little pump for our koi pond when the fountain broke to give the fish oxygen. (Why? I dunno my dads not smart with fish. I know the pump was obviously tiny compared to the pond but who wants to argue with my dad? -_-) So when our fountain was finally fixed he took the little pump (now covered in algea and other nasty things) and set it in the garage for another very LOONG time. Just now (like 2 seconds ago!) I found this pump in my garage and think of how perfect it would be for my 10gal tank! It's a very small pump, I think I remember it being for up to 5gal tanks, but would it be ok for my 10gal? The air thing is a cute little treasure chest that opens and closes. =)

But the little treasure chest is covered in algea and dust and dirt and probably clogged with nasty stuff. What should I do to make it safe?

Also another question: How long should I keep it on? Is it safe to be on 24/7?

Posted by ashley
[display_name id=”1″]

Since it's just been left in the garage, I would just scrub it before placing it back in the tank. If the inside of the air tubing is dirty, you can buy extra tubing at most fish stores at a cheap price…and you don't need to pay for a new pump. And yes, it's safe for it to be on 24/7(it should be on that much :D)

Good luck :D.
